frequently asked questions
The sizes (30", 36", 40" and 45") represent the width of the bridge. Every canoe stabilizer set needs a bridge to operate, as the extension arms slide in and out of the bridge, and the floats slide up and down on the arms. To help you determine what size you need, please check out our handy guide by clicking here.
The floats weigh 4lbs 3oz each. Because the bridge comes in 4 different sizes, it also had 4 different weights. The 30" weighs 2.07lbs. The 36" bridge weighs 2.48lbs. The 40" bridge weighs 2.76lbs. And the 45" weighs 3.10lbs.
All together, the entire canoe stabilizer set weighs between 13.77lbs and 14.8lbs depending on the width of your chosen bridge.
Tip to tip, the floats are 36.5" long. They are 7.4" wide and are 8" tall.
The floats are made using strong polyethylene plastic. All of the metal extrusions and tubing are made of aluminum, as well as the clamps. The u-hooks are made of stainless steel.
The Bold Ivy Canoe Stabilizer Complete Set will fit nearly any canoe. There can be exceptions, however. If your canoe does NOT contain inside OR outside gunwales, there would be no way to clamp the bridge on your canoe, and therefore, the set would not be compatible. It is very unlikely to have a canoe without gunwales.
If you have any questions about compatibility, feel free to reach out to us by clicking here.

The only difference between the canoe stabilizer set and kayak stabilizer set is the clamps that are used. The canoe stabilizer comes with an angle clamp that allows you to clamp the bridge onto the gunwale of the canoe. Because most kayaks don't have a lip to use with an angle clamp, we had to manufacturer a different clamping system for kayaks.
Of course! At a minimum, a Bold Ivy Canoe Stabilizer Set is going to be whatever width of bridge you decide to buy. But each set contains two telescoping arms. These telescoping arms can be extended up to 20", giving you an extra 40" of horizontal stability and safety.
The buoyancy rating per float is 27lbs.
We recommended that while the canoe is in motion, the bottom of the float touches the top of the water level. This will help ensure little to no lag. However, due to the hydrodynamic shape of the floats, there should still be very little lag if the floats become partially submerged while in motion.
We recommend speeds of less than 10mph. If moving faster than that, we would advise you lift the floats out of the water. Higher speeds can cause stress on the gunwales where the bridge is clamped.
Absolutely not! Our canoe stabilizer set is very easy to install and requires absolutely no screwing or damage to your canoe.
Check out our install directions to see just how easy the set is to install.
Each shipment contains everything that you'll need to get going. That includes two stabilizer floats, a bridge, two telescoping arms, two vertical tubes, and a set of clamps.
Currently, we are online only. We are actively growing our dealer network and as we continue to expand into new retail locations, we will add a handy link to our website which shows where you may find our canoe stabilizer sets.

features
hydrodynamic design
We have designed every square inch of our floats to be as hydrodynamic as possible. Our sleek and smooth lines, along with our choice of polyethylene plastic, allow you to glide effortlessly through the water.
color options
Our customers love to match their canoe or kayak with Bold Ivy floats. That’s why we’ve manufactured different float colors so that you can choose the perfect color.
bridge with telescoping arms
We made our bridge and extension arms out of high-quality anodized aluminum so that you can be assured that they will never fail or break. The extension arms easily slide in and out of the bridge, allowing up to an additional 22″ of extension in each direction. If you couple that with our 45″ bridge, you can have a canoe stabilizer that spans over 7ft!
high-quality angle clamps
Our clamps are designed to fit under the gunwales of your canoe. Designed at the perfect angle, they can work on gunwales that are on the inside or outside of your canoe. Every gunwale clamp is made of anodized aluminum that screams high quality each time you handle them.
upgraded hardware
Bold Ivy provides upgraded hardware for every set. Every Bold Ivy Canoe Stabilizer set contains 17 different parts and 39 pieces, and we made sure to source the best hardware we could find.
installing the canoe stabilizer
1. insert arms
Insert extension arms on each side of the bridge.
2. position bridge
Place bridge on top of the canoe in the desired position.
3. position clamps
Slide the angled canoe gunwale clamps on the bridge and position them so that so that the shorter side of the angle clamp is beneath the gunwale.
4. tighten knobs
Tighten the knobs underneath the clamps so that the bridge is secured to the canoe.
5. insert float tubes
Insert the float tube into the extension arm, either lowering the float so it’s touching the water, or raising the float so it’s out of the water. Tighten the knobs at your desired position.
6. extend arms
You may extend the arms at this point.

I have access to warm water year round, so despite ordering in November, I’ve been using the canoe stabilizer ever since. It’s amazing! I love how easy it is to move around inside the canoe without fear of tipping over. It’s a phenomenal product and the price is right!

I love it! The blue floats look incredible and I can’t wait until I can use it more often.

I ordered in September and have been testing the stabilizer ever since. I’ve used it on rivers and lakes and it holds up just fine on either. I dealt with a few rapids out on the river and the set had no issue handling them.

I found the boldivy canoe stabilizer on amazon last month and purchased directly from their website. I was really impressed with how easy the installation was, and the quality of each component is amazon. I like how I don’t have to continously use the floats if they aren’t needed. I know there are cheaper options online, but I think the money was well spent here, especially since it’s hard to compare this stabilizer with the cheaper ones.

Bought for my grandpa and we were able to go out on the canoe a few times this summer. He definitely enjoyed the experience more knowing that tipping over was less likely. I went out by myself beforehand and practived standing up, and maybe it’s pssible to capsize, but it didn’t seem easy. Great product that I didn’t even know existed until I found it on google.

I saw a fellow paddler with a set and immediately came home and researched what it was. I’ve had my stabilizer for a few weeks and it’s fantastic. I spoke to Gabe and he was helpful in getting me the right size. It’s a really cool product that I’ll use for years to come!
